After completing the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), it should be relatively easy to write a Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP). It should be, but this week it was not. With the changing weather patterns and a full week of student teaching in, I was completely wiped! The fibromyalgia was flaring and my energy levels had tanked. I was hoping to utilize my Snow Day on Friday to write my second PBSP for class and get other coursework done for my other three college classes, but ended up spending my day laid out on the couch. After spending a majority of the day either sleeping or resting, I figured I would try and get some work done in the evening. Try is the key word here. I read and reread and reread again the FBA for the student, but even though it was in plain language and no different than the numerous FBAs I have read and written in the past, I could not make heads nor tails of the information in it. I figured I’d stop trying to read it and just work on transferring the information from the FBA to the PBSP. Which I did, in a half dozy daze that when I got up and came back to seemed like it was written by someone else. I once again read and reread and reread again the PBSP that I had just written. After much editing and rereading, I finally made a coherent PBSP…I hope.
