Classroom Behavior Management Plan, otherwise known as BMP, provide the framework of expectations for the classroom, between teacher and students. All parties participate in creating the BMP. When students have input into making the classroom rules, then they have a vested interest in adhering to them as they helped to write them in the first place. I ave used this within my various classrooms. The students take ownership of the rules because they had a part in writing the rules.

The classroom BMP has three purposes: save time, enhance learning, and keep students safe. By supporting positive behavior, less time is spent managing negative behaviors. In encouraging positive behaviors, learning is enhanced through consistent instruction without distractions. Lastly, students are kept safe when all students in the classroom know and follow the rules.

A classroom BMP is about teamwork. Teacher, staff, and students working together to create a healthy learning environment.
